1/ AT THE TIME OF INSTALLATION
Your monitor can't be set up, because it is too far from your Internet box, so the Wi-Fi signal is too weak.
In this case, when associating with your box, bring the monitor close to your box and continue the Wi-Fi association.
If your monitor is connected to a DIN rail, be sure to use the power supply included with your connected video doorphone (DC 24V). During this step, the call station does not need to be connected to the monitor.
Once the monitor is connected, place it back on its mount. Then, to bridge the distance, place a Wi-Fi repeater between your Internet box and your monitor.
2/ YOU REGULARLY LOSE YOUR WI-FI CONNECTION
Your monitor is installed, but from time to time, you lose the Wi-Fi connection between your monitor and your Internet box. You have also noticed in the app (menu> my devices > connected video doorphone > that the Wi-Fi network signal has become weaker.
This can have several causes:
- the distance between the two devices is too great,
- elements are disrupting the Wi-Fi signal (thick walls, reinforced concrete infrastructure, etc.).
- number of devices connected to your network
In these cases, first check the saturation level of your Wi-Fi channel
a) Make sure the Wi-Fi channel used by the Internet Box is not overloaded
If there are many Wi-Fi networks around your home, the channel used by your Internet Box may be overloaded.
You may need to change the Wi-Fi channel in the settings of your Internet Box (or Wi-Fi router). We recommend that you first change your Wi-Fi channel to automatic, if it is not currently set that way.
If that doesn't fix the problem, we recommend checking the Wi-Fi environment. You can use a free channel analysis app or a software program, such as:
- PC - Acrylic WiFi
- Mac - Netspot
- Android - WiFi Analyzer
These applications provide a graphic depiction of how busy different Wi-Fi channels are. If your Wi-Fi network is on a channel occupied by several other networks, you will need to move it to a less busy channel. You can do this in the settings of your internet box (or Wi-Fi router).
In the example above, the busiest channels are 1, 6, and 11. Therefore, it would be good to change the Wi-Fi channel on the box or router to channel 3, 4, 8, or 9, because these are the least busy.
b) Positioning a Wi-Fi repeater
A Wi-Fi repeater lets you keep the same Wi-Fi network name as your box. The repeater amplifies your box's Wi-Fi signal. Position your Wi-Fi repeater in an area well covered by your box. If your box is located too far away, in a poorly covered area, it will not transmit a high-quality signal.
